Born in Debrezeith, Ethiopia, Abere Yekoye is an academician, researcher, and manager with over 10 years of proven work experience in academics and nonprofit organizations.
He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies with great distinction from Mekelle University in 2012 and 2015 respectively and promoted to rank of assistant professor.
In addition, he earned his MPH from Addis continental institute of public health in 2023. He worked in Mekelle University as an academician, where his responsibilities were undertaking scientific researches, teaching and supervising students, and providing community service for the benefit and betterment of the community.
Abere supervised undergraduate and graduate students and played important influence in helping them achieve their full potential academically, intellectually, and professionally. As a result of his passion in conducting health research, he has written articles that have been published in a variety of scholarly journals, giving other researchers in the field more access to his work. In addition to this, he was a coordinator of graduate programs, college focal for program revision and appraisal committee, and chaired revision of many graduate programs.
He joined the nonprofit arena in 2020 as a lead instructor at LeDeG Midwifery College and charity organization, a college dedicated to training and empowering girls from disadvantaged areas of Ethiopia where maternal health problems are highly prevalent. After two years, he was promoted to the organization’s academic dean, responsible for managing overall academic activities. At the present time, he is working hard to help the organization realize its vision of becoming a center of excellence for the delivery of top-notch midwifery education.
This is 12th year of his professional life, and he has obtained the knowledge and confidence necessary to pursue leadership positions and aiming to pursue his PHD study to become expert in the field of public health and broaden his career opportunities.
