Dr. Abel Gidey Kebedom

About

Dr. Abel Gidey is a clinician, researcher, and leader with high integrity. He has worked as a project manager, medical director, and health advocate in non-governmental and government organizations. Working for Doctors Without Borders, AGF, and university hospitals has provided him with valuable experience in his field. In addition, he has also worked as a regional advisor.
Dr. Gidey was an assistant professor of pediatrics and child health at Mekelle University and was selected as an alternate finalist on the Leadership in Public Management track for the 2020/21 Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF). He also recently completed the IMHL Fellowship at McGill University in Canada. Additionally, he worked as a pioneering pediatrician in the Afar region and developed a childcare setup. Furthermore, he has participated in international research meetings as a speaker, demonstrating his commitment to developing childcare, preventing harmful traditional practices, and encouraging community behaviors in healthcare.
To raise awareness about wellbeing, Dr. Gidey has written numerous medical articles and books in local languages. He is also actively involved as a volunteer in numerous charity organizations.
Furthermore, he has created an Android phone health application called “Teana yhabeley,” which offers local-language knowledge about maternal and child health. The application is available on the Google Play store.
