About

Faruku is a youth leader, founder and Executive Director of Great Lakes Peace Center. He is an international Sustainable Development Goals Trainer, Human rights and Governance enthusiast, Social accountability and Peace Advocate strong in developing training and mentoring programs for organizations both profit and non-profit. These attributes have led to his Award top 40 under 40 youth in Uganda in 2018 by New Vision a Uganda leading daily. He was also awarded among the 100 most Positively Inspiring Youth in Africa 2017 by Positive Youth Africa.
Faruku has worked with GIZ in Uganda and in the Great Lakes region on projects to support Youth empowerment and Peace Education.
In 2018, Faruku trained Charities and High school in Berlin, Germany to support students understand and take action for United Nations SDGs at personal and institutional level. Faruku has previously served an Advocacy Officer, Community engagement and Capacity Building on a USAID Advocacy for Better Health project where he provided institutional capacity and civic empowerment trainings in communities of the Rwenzori Region of Uganda.
Faruku has an 18 Years volunteer career with Rotary International first as a Rotaractor and later as a Founder President of a local Rotary Club of Kasese Snow Peaks. I hold a master’s degree in Peacebuilding and Reconciliation from Winchester University in the United Kingdoms.
