George Rafael is a candidate for the Doctor of Social Work. He is a private senior social worker with over forty-three years of experience as a private senior social worker, transfer of care coordinator and rehabilitation officer. His work has been primarily in acute and community health settings. George holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work Science and a Master of Public Health, focusing on primary health care, mental health, and public health law. He has published a chapter in the book “Social Work Innovations and Insights” titled “Cancer Can Be Fought Courageously and Successfully: Swapping the Musical Chairs” and has also written several articles on mental health for local papers to increase public awareness in rural and remote areas. Additionally, he has developed a mental health guide for medical and health professionals in local community hospitals in rural and remote Clare Valley. George has also presented at several national conferences, including those on suicide prevention in Brisbane and Cairns, as well as international conferences for social workers in health and mental health in Quebec City, Canada and Hong Kong. He has also presented at an international conference for the International Association of Workplace Bullying and Harassment in Dubai.
