About

I am a Public Health Practitioner, an Advocate for Children, women and Girl’s rights with a bachelor’s degree in development studies and finalized my Masters for Public Health. For the last 10 years, I have coordinated HIV prevention, care and treatment projects and implemented Sexual and Reproductive health programs including communication, policy research and advocacy for effective health, education and livelihood programs. I am an HIV prevention research Alumni Fellow with a US based organization (Global Advocacy for HIV prevention-AVAC) who pushed for effective implementation of the Test & Treat policy and critical coverage of quality HIV services.
As part of my achievements, I won the “Omololu Falobi Community Award for being and outspoken advocate for three-month drug refills and access to food support for people living with HIV in Uganda. I was among the young African women that advocated for the approval and introduction of the HIV Vaginal dapivirine ring and inclusion of women and girls in the studies for the long-acting PREP in Africa through engagement and in collaboration with international partners such as the International AIDs Vaccine initiative, International Partnership for Microbicides to advocate for greater community involvement in HIV vaccine research, AIDs Vaccines Advocacy coalition (AVAC).
Winifred advocated for effective implementation of the Test and Treat approach in her country through engagement Uganda AIDs commission and PEPFAR which led to the prioritization of People living with HIV needs and funding for HIV treatment literacy, intensive adherence counselling and continuity of HIV care amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I am an HIV Cure research Fellow with the International AIDs Society. And currently studying at the University of Iceland for the Gender Equality Fellowship program pursuing a Postgraduate in International Gender Equality Studies with the GRO-GEST program in Iceland. Vastly, I hold 9 years’ dynamic experience in comprehensive HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health programming, implementation, policy research and advocacy. I am passionate with empowering communities and spend time educating communities and referring youth, adolescents and young women, people with disabilities (PWDs) including Most at Risk populations to access quality health services. My core competence is lies in project planning, programming, coordination, campaign and events management, coalition building, capacity building and social media engagement, communication and documentation. Throughout my employment history, I have gained numerous skills in community mobilization, communication, organization & development, social media advocacy, networking, capacity building, strategic planning and facilitation skills.
