About Patrick

Patrick Segawa is a distinguished Public Health Expert, Social Entrepreneur, and Specialist in Adolescent and Youth development. With over 8 years of experience in managing and coordinating evidence-based projects in Uganda and Canada. Patrick has become a renowned figure in Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS/STI Prevention, and Program Leadership. His expertise spans a broad range of areas, including research methods, resource mobilization, meaningful youth participation, community-led advocacy, and capacity building through training and mentorship. Patrick has also honed his skills in social behavior change communication, volunteer management, and event planning and management.
Patrick’s exceptional contributions to Public Health have earned him several awards, including the Student Research Award 2023 by Brock University, the Top 40 Under 40 2019 by the New Vision (Uganda), and the 120 Under 40 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has also received the Community Impact Award – 2018 from Clarke International University for his significant contributions to the field of public health and the People’s Choice Award 2017 by Knowledge for Health with their media partners – Girls Globe.
Patrick has also contributed to an edited book and published peer-reviewed journal articles. He has presented his research at various international conferences, including the 23rd International AIDS Conference and the Women Deliver Global Conference among others.
